This is a Jimmy song that I really don’t remember listening to much at all back when Chase This Light dropped. So last year upon some re-listening, it really stood out this time around.
If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO IT! I think I’ve seen them live maybe…8 times? Incredible every time out.

I’ve never given this one a deep listen, and wow. It really seems like a protest song in a lot of ways. Barely scratches the surface of our problems, but… the rote memorization of the very filtered and curated “facts” we get in school. The propaganda that the media has become. All telling us what to think, what to pay attention to. While we all fund the narrative planet’s largest war machine, and support genocide with our taxes, while denying our own population healthcare and basic necessities.
Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but it feels like he’s telling us to give up the illusion that we aren’t complicit (“the enemy is you as well”), so we can get to a place to actually start to change it all.
