#127 of 366: Snow On The Beach, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey

“This scene feels like what I once saw on the screen, I searched “aurora borealis green”, I’ve never seen someone lit from within, blurring out my periphery, my smile is like I won a contest, and to hide that, would be so dishonest, and to hide that, would be so dishonest, and it’s fine to fake it ’til you make it, ’til you do, ’til it’s true”

If you’re a Taylor fan, you’re probably immersed in The Tortured Poets Department, but I really, really enjoyed the album this track appears on, Midnights.

The duet with Lana, is just beautiful. I’m glad Taylor went back and added more Lana (and even titled the song feat. More Lana Del Rey) because in the first release of this song, it really didn’t feel like you could hear Lana. This one give her her own verse, and it’s a ton better.

I think this is a nice Sunday song. I hope you enjoy it, and your day!

#126 of 366: Hand In The Fire – Killen Manjaro Remix

This song is a party from beginning to end. A ton of fun to just shake out the doldrums to. There’s something about the repetitive “something in my bones” that just hits. It’s like having a feeling you can’t get rid of, or a thought you can’t get out of your head.

So on this Saturday, I want you to MOVE either to this song, or a walk, or a run, or some yoga. Find a movement that serves you today, and throw yourself into it!

#125 of 366: The Fade Out Line, Phoebe Killdeer, The Short Straws

Great guitar in this song, and a whole lot of funk, if I don’t say so myself. Not to be outdone though, Killdeer has voice for days.

“Did we build all those bridges, to watch them thin down to dust, or blow them voluntarily out of constant trust, the clock is ticking its last couple tocks, and there won’t be a party with weathering frocks”

It’s Friday! I hope you have some fun plans this weekend! I’m gonna go visit Mike and Erin down in Addison, VT…work on the Joanie the Motorcycle and get her roadworthy after the winter. Hope you can get your hands on something you love this weekend to…

…take that however you want. 😀

#124 of 366: Loose Change for the Boatman, King Charles

First off, that’s a great fucking head of hair. It’s giving lion’s mane.

“Of course there is another place, where my heart will again learn to beat, another land another king where I will need to sing, but my soul can’t be yours can’t be bought by gold, all the lovers in the land know the wise man from the fools”

To me, this is a rollicking good time of a song dressed in sad clothing. How else do we explain the take-off at 1:45? I absolutely love the uptick in energy. I’m excited to dive into more King Charles!

#123 of 366: Questions, Middle Kids

“You are a lance stuck in my side, blood and water, you make me cry, the crowd around us with their thumbs down, the king is shaking his head, calling for our arrest, and I got questions, and you got answers, and I’m not sure if they’re fact or fiction, and I got questions, and you got answers, and I’m not sure if they’re even worth asking”

That’s a great set of lyrics up there, but the highlight is BY FAR:

“And how are we supposed to dance and kiss, when we are sighing all the time”

If you’ve been there, you felt that. I felt it. That’s a heartbreakingly simple assessment of a relationship that’s on the rocks huh?

So how to turn the perspective of this downer to a smile? When you’re writing a story, the next page is always blank. Start spending time thinking about what you want. What you love. What you wanna try. You’re in control of your life. Each breath is a gift and not a guarantee. Live accordingly. Start now. 🙂

#122 of 366: Other Side, ILLENIUM, Said the Sky, Vera Blue

Vera Blue has one of the purest voices on the list and this song is a banger. I love how we start out so calm and build to the explosion of sound.

ILLENIUM

The beat drop in this song is so satisfying! Its fun from beginning to end and a tale of self-reflection and growth and of course, a request that someone not go.

Said The Sky

I hope you capitalize on the energy it brings and rock out this Tuesday!

Vera Blue

Go forth and conquer today! I’m right behind you. 😀

#121 of 366: Sophie, Bear’s Den

This is a such a pretty song. Beautifully sad.

“You would hide yourself in a shroud, as your hair started falling out, when you took off your dressing gown, Sophie, your mother was dressed in black, with a lock of your hair in her hand, and I know there was no turning back, Sophie”

Be thankful for what you have today. Share that gratitude.

#120 of 366: Every Time the Sun Comes Up, Sharon Van Etten

A little slow-moving ditty for you today. Sharon has such a passionate voice and you can just hear the emotion dripping off of it.

Musically/instrumentally I think it’s a beautiful mix. Well done there for sure!

Hope you have a wonderful day today! Don’t get into trouble! 😉 BGDG.

#119 of 366: SGL, Now, Now

This song feels like some sort of female-vocal-led Death Cab for Cutie/Jimmy Eat World mash-up.

“Pick it up, baby, if we’re moving too slow, I got the seat back, windows up, just say it, I’m yours, now every word is heavy, tell me what you wanna know, you’re my shotgun lover and I want it all”

It really seems to me that you can just insert Jim Adkins on that chorus and it would work perfectly as a Jimmy song.

What are you doing to give yourself some fun today? I’m checking out Jack’s baseball game and gonna take some photos. Hope you enjoy yourself!
