#126 of 366: Hand In The Fire – Killen Manjaro Remix

This song is a party from beginning to end. A ton of fun to just shake out the doldrums to. There’s something about the repetitive “something in my bones” that just hits. It’s like having a feeling you can’t get rid of, or a thought you can’t get out of your head.

So on this Saturday, I want you to MOVE either to this song, or a walk, or a run, or some yoga. Find a movement that serves you today, and throw yourself into it!

#125 of 366: The Fade Out Line, Phoebe Killdeer, The Short Straws

Great guitar in this song, and a whole lot of funk, if I don’t say so myself. Not to be outdone though, Killdeer has voice for days.

“Did we build all those bridges, to watch them thin down to dust, or blow them voluntarily out of constant trust, the clock is ticking its last couple tocks, and there won’t be a party with weathering frocks”

It’s Friday! I hope you have some fun plans this weekend! I’m gonna go visit Mike and Erin down in Addison, VT…work on the Joanie the Motorcycle and get her roadworthy after the winter. Hope you can get your hands on something you love this weekend to…

…take that however you want. πŸ˜€

#124 of 366: Loose Change for the Boatman, King Charles

First off, that’s a great fucking head of hair. It’s giving lion’s mane.

“Of course there is another place, where my heart will again learn to beat, another land another king where I will need to sing, but my soul can’t be yours can’t be bought by gold, all the lovers in the land know the wise man from the fools”

To me, this is a rollicking good time of a song dressed in sad clothing. How else do we explain the take-off at 1:45? I absolutely love the uptick in energy. I’m excited to dive into more King Charles!

BGDG. Have some popcorn tonight.

#115 of 366: The Way It Was, Coast Modern

I can’t quite put my finger on why I like this song so much, but I think it’s just the general attitude of it all!

Oh, we never gonna go back to the way it was, oh, and we’re never gonna go back to the way we was, Tell me if you wanna roll with the rest of us, cause, oh, it’s never gonna go back to the way it was”

We can’t get tomorrow back. We can’t get an hour a go back. We can’t get the last minute or second back.

So whatcha planning?

#113 of 366: Sober For the Weekend, Kotomi

Sober for the weekend
Alone in my own bed
And my hands have stopped shaking
No words that I regret
Nothing keeps me from sleeping
I can hear myself again
I can hear myself again
I’ll never find myself at the bottom of a bottle
I never find myself at the bottom of a bottle

Kotomi flat out rocks. Only about 35k monthly listens on Spotify. Hell, this SONG has only been listened to 20,000 times. It’s criminal.

#112 of 366: I Swear, I Really Wanted To Make A “Rap” Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time, AndrΓ© 3000

This is probably the most off-beat song on the blog. A 12 minute instrumental from 1/2 of Outkast!

Your homework today is to listen to this song as a meditative experience! Appreciate how Andre reinvents himself! It’s a great example for us all to sometimes let the wind take us where it wants sometimes!

#111 of 366: Good Morning, Hypocrite, Electric President

It’s always a fun and interesting little thought experiment to pick out your favorite part of a song sometimes. For me with this one though, it’s not a lyric or an instrumentation.

For me, it’s the added vinyl needle sound. Just makes this song feel more homey, you feel me, homie?

I hope you take some time to read something nice, and eat something yummy today. That’s my mission!

#109 of 366: As It Was, Harry Styles

I became a fan of Harry Styles from watching him recognize and interact with his fans at his shows. Just seems like a really nice dude. This song certainly helps. Love the smart and catchy drum beat here.

“Answer the phone, Harry, you’re no good alone, why are you sitting at home on the floor?, what kind of pills are you on?, ringing the bell, and nobody’s coming to help, your daddy lives by himself, he just wants to know that you’re well”

I admire Harry Styles because he seems to be completely himself at all times. I feel like that should be the goal for all of us.

I admire you. If you’re taking the time to read this, that shows that you care about me and the stuff I say! So I am grateful for you today.

What are you grateful for?

#100 of 366: My Favorite Mutiny, The Coup

The 100th post of the blog AND a solar eclipse on the same day?! Double bonus if I ever saw one!

This song serendipitously was the title credits song to the show I just binged: “Winning Time: Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” and now finds itself falling here in the blog. A nice coincidence!

“…if we waiting for the time to fight, these is thems…”

That’s my favorite lyric. Something about “these is thems”. I’m not being goofy either…I legit love it. Love hearing Talib Kweli on this track too. He’s was an instant favorite when I discovered him like 20 years ago. Fanastic lyricist.

You got something you been meaning to fight? (Not physically!…unless you like box or like, Greco-Roman wrestle or something, in that case, go for it.) You know what I mean! You got something? Might be time!

Love you. BGDG.
