#231 of 366: Go Get It, T.I.

Changing gears yet again!

This song is a confidence builder. Ego is generally a bad thing I think, but “fake it til you make it” has certainly helped me in the past when needing to manufacture some confidence. I think sometimes we need songs like this to remind us we’re bad-asses. Hot shit. We got this far.

Keep going.

Like T.I. says, G.O.G.E.T.I.T

Be good, do good.

#230 of 366: Halloween, Novo Amor

Short little ditty here that gives me some feelings of nostalgia and the silly and crazy things we got up to back in the days.

I think it’s important to keep those memories close, because in a lot of ways they might be the key to remembering what makes us tick as we get older and more distracted by the things life puts on our shoulders.

Connecting back to that younger you can sometimes make us remember what makes us truly happy. Not a bad thing to tap into, IMO. Be your authentic self and happiness appears.

Be good, do good.

#229 of 366: Walk Above the City, The Paper Kites, MARO

The Paper Kites

Slowing things down quite a bit after that Jimmy song. We heard MARO back on #60 can you see me? Absolutely gorgeous voice.

I love the image that this song puts in our heads. Floating above the city with someone close to you. Far away from the noise, distractions, drama.

MARO

Sometimes we need that escape huh? What’s that look like for you? I’m thinking of making myself a super cozy reading nook somewhere in the house. A cozy little cave I can retreat to with a hot tea and book for when things get to be a little too much.

Do you have an escape?

Be good, do good.

#228 of 366: Electable (Give It Up), Jimmy Eat World

Back to our regularly scheduled programming! COVID is not fun. Glad to be feeling closer to normal, I assure you.

This is a Jimmy song that I really don’t remember listening to much at all back when Chase This Light dropped. So last year upon some re-listening, it really stood out this time around.

If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO IT! I think I’ve seen them live maybe…8 times? Incredible every time out.

Just like you. 😀

Be good, do good.

#226 of 366: Walcott, Vampire Weekend

I chose this song for this evening’s post because I just got done watching the Paris Closing Ceremonies (absolutely dope, Paris killed it this year, incredible), and VW lead singer Ezra Koenig performed along with the band Phoenix during it!

This song is one of the few I enjoy from Vampire Weekend, and I’ve discussed with friends Mike and Erin on why I have such a negative reaction to Vampire Weekend songs. (311 too, god, ugh) I’m still trying to nail down why. It might be ska-related. Sorry if you’re a fan, I just dig it less than other stuff, and that’s ok!

Be good, do good.

#225 of 366: Young and Beautiful, Glass Animals

A fantastic over of Lana del Rey’s Young and Beautiful.

The more that Nicolette has me listening to Glass Animals, the more I am in awe of how their music feels so genreless at times. They really are an amazingly creative group that have such a unique tapestry of sound. The more I listen, the more I love.

Hope the same for you!

Be good, do good.

#223 of 366: Anywhere With You, Maggie Rogers

I love that this is just a rock-out celebration of a relationship. Like, shit is so good, it’s easy to picture it running through your head cinematically to this song, right? This fictional couple you just made up in your mind? What are their names? What do they do? Reminds me of Kindergarten Cop. “Who is your Daddy, and what does he do?”

Well, mine was the Jacobsen’s, I know you were wondering. Brenna and Jasper Jacobsen. Maybe I’ll write a story about them someday!

Stretch that imagination today. Do something “right-brained”. 😀

Be good, do good.
