#241 of 366: Sever, Hilary Woods

This song is essentially just a three minute poem where I can screen shot the entire lyrics for you!

I’ve been thinking about letting go of a lot of things that don’t help me or bring me joy anymore. I think it’s good to take stock of those things now and again, so that you’re not carrying around more than you should be. (Not looking at you overloaded bookcase, you and your treasures are safe!)

The cool thing, to me at least, about the above concept, is that it can be applied to anything that may be holding us back from who we want to be. Put those things down, because they aren’t helping you anymore!

Be good, do good. Go kill it today.

#240 of 366: Not Dead Yet, Lord Huron

“All messed up with nowhere to go, I stare at myself in the mirror alone, it’s hard to make friends when you’re half in the grave, but I ain’t dead yet, and I got something to say”

This song just sounds like a cross-country road trip to me. I think Lord Huron songs are good for that vibe.

I’m gonna try to make the last bits of summer feel like that. You should too!

Be good, do good.

#238 of 366: Sensitive, Dreamer Isioma

This song made the list because of the duality contained within it. Less than 200k listeners on Spotify for Dreamer Isioma, he needs to be bigger. Great stuff!

“You walk that walk, talking blah, blah, blah, who you think run your block?, the government, the opps, your enemies, gotta eat, gotta get money by any means”

Be good, do good, my dear readers. Enjoy the vibe.

#237 of 366: Pompeii MMXXIII, Bastille, Hans Zimmer

Just so we’re clear, in this house, Hans Zimmer is considered the GOAT when it comes to film composers. I said what I said. No, no, I understand. I just prefer his body of work. 🙂

Add an already cinematic sounding band with an incredible composer and a live orchestra? Good recipe.

Listen to it in a way you can be awed by it.

Be good, do good.

#235 of 366: If A Tree Falls, The Beaches

“Hiding in your hoodie, pulling on its strings, haven’t took it off since you told me everything, God, I wish that you didn’t, had to take a knife and open up the cut, silver in the light, watch it tear me up, I’ll bleed out any minute, I could look the other way again, ’cause I learned from the best how to play pretend”

If there’s one band outside of Angie McMahon that you take from this project, it should be The Beaches. They are my absolute favorite find from last year.

Just four girls from Toronto who straight rock. What more do you need?

Be good, do good.

#232 of 366: Hand On Your Heart – (Live), Jose Gonzalez

Jose possesses some of the most beautiful guitar skills I’ve ever heard and pairs them with a fantastically recognizable voice.

Hoping to test negative tomorrow and end this COVID fiasco. Better now than school, I guess?

Only a couple of Monday’s left before it’s time to go back. I better make ’em memorable.

What are you gonna make memorable today?

Be good, do good.
