Little under the weather tonight so just a short one today. Enjoy!
Be good, do good.

I chose this song for this evening’s post because I just got done watching the Paris Closing Ceremonies (absolutely dope, Paris killed it this year, incredible), and VW lead singer Ezra Koenig performed along with the band Phoenix during it!
This song is one of the few I enjoy from Vampire Weekend, and I’ve discussed with friends Mike and Erin on why I have such a negative reaction to Vampire Weekend songs. (311 too, god, ugh) I’m still trying to nail down why. It might be ska-related. Sorry if you’re a fan, I just dig it less than other stuff, and that’s ok!
Be good, do good.

A fantastic over of Lana del Rey’s Young and Beautiful.
The more that Nicolette has me listening to Glass Animals, the more I am in awe of how their music feels so genreless at times. They really are an amazingly creative group that have such a unique tapestry of sound. The more I listen, the more I love.
Hope the same for you!
Be good, do good.
WordPress is being really weird about this post. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve edited it. Deleted the entire thing. Started fresh. For some reason it will not save content correctly. We’ll see what happens tonight!

I love that this is just a rock-out celebration of a relationship. Like, shit is so good, it’s easy to picture it running through your head cinematically to this song, right? This fictional couple you just made up in your mind? What are their names? What do they do? Reminds me of Kindergarten Cop. “Who is your Daddy, and what does he do?”
Well, mine was the Jacobsen’s, I know you were wondering. Brenna and Jasper Jacobsen. Maybe I’ll write a story about them someday!
Stretch that imagination today. Do something “right-brained”. 😀
Be good, do good.

Man that guitar is so pretty in the beginning isn’t it? So smooth. So mellow. Chill.
I just re-watched Garden State for the first time since it came out. I’d be shocked if this band isn’t on the soundtrack. Anyone remember that Zack Braff, Natalie Portman screaming into the quarry movie?
Anyway, the soundtrack is excellent, and has so many songs I would describe as “comfy”.
To that end, let’s try to carve out some space for ourselves today!
Be good, do good.

I love this song and discovered it last September, and boy his this girl hit it BIG with her music.

Pretty insane! She’s dope though, and so is this song. Just a declaration of honesty to self. You do you girl.
Be good, do good!

I’ve been on an Alice Merton kick since her song “run away girl” started popping on AltNation. She’s got a fantastic voice, and there’s a bit of an edge to her sound that I really like. She’s dope!
Be good, do good friendos.

In honor of this song, do something that makes you feel just a little bit free today. I like eating whipped cream from the can standing in front of the fridge for that feeling. 🙂
Be good, do good.

Angie has a direct line to my soul via her music. There’s just something about her delivery, especially at 2:05 where you just hear the heartbreak in her voice.
“I never met her don’t want to, she’ll jut give a face to the hole that I dug, in this stupid minefield where I tried to plant my love, plant my love, oh lover you left me so close to the line, pushed me further and further, I’ll save us some time, if you’re gonna push me over oh do it, I will say our goodbye, goodbye goodbye”
Salt is Angie’s pain album in my opinion. I feel like it covers the first four stages of grief. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression.
Her second album, Light, Dark, Light Again, is the Acceptance album.
She’s an incredible artist. If you dive into anyone on this blog, let it be her. You won’t be sorry about how it helps your mental health.
Be good, do good.
