Happy summer evening, my dear readers. It has been, as the youth say, a minute.
It hit me today that I actually miss the act of sharing music so frequently. At this point I feel like my playlist is actually an intricate look into my personality and psyche.
Jean-Michel Basquiat said it perfectly when he said “art is how we decorate space; music is how we decorate time.”
Listening to so much music over the years has helped me navigate unknown ground, discover more about who I want to be as a person going forward, and helped me process some difficult situations.
Being able to share that music with you, however few, is truly a passion of mine because I know how magical and valuable it can be. If anything, music is a reminder that we are not alone. When we hear a song that perfectly encapsulates how we are feeling in that moment, we share the happiness, grief, sadness, loneliness, rapture, and euphoria with the artist. They’ve felt how we are feeling. It’s a shared experience between us at the time of listening, and the artist at the time of writing/performing.
That’s why I love sharing. If I can suggest you a song that you connect with, we’ve both become richer for the experience.
This was my first experience with Hazey Eyes, but Yoke Lore is a favorite for when I want to feel good and move.
Enjoy your day. Love you to pieces.
Be good, do good.
