#251 of 366: Mean Demeanor, Run The Jewels

This track spills over with energy. Great workout song. Killer Mike and El-P kill it.

Mike’s opening verse is a first-round haymaker.

“A warrior, my story glory-bound and war-renowned, amongst the poor, the sick, and shut eye where my story found, I overcame every obstacle that’s ever placed, the gods have promised, victory will one day know my face, won’t be denied the pride, won’t be denied my prize, RTJ all day, any day, every day ’round here, beat you and these other guys, don’t know don’t care, don’t really give a fuck, so long as they know don’t fuck with mine, and let it be known, and the truth be shone, we kill shit dead, no compromise”

Use that energy for good today!

Be good, do good.

#250 of 366: Firefall, Bjéar

This artist has fewer than 10,000 followers! It’s filled with some beautiful songwriting.

“It’s all in fables, locked up in stables, where we arrived, it’s tangled cables, it’s clanging sleigh bells, where we unwind, remember last year, it’s still in my head, you kissed my hair, and said what you said, you don’t know heartache until you know none, you don’t know sorrow until you’re undone”

The strings get me right in the feels!

Be good, do good. It’s an ice cream day. Not many left. 😀

#248 of 366: Devil Like Me, Rainbow Kitten Surprise

RKS will be at Shelburne Farms in VT in t-minus 12 days. Sold out show. Going by myself to a concert for the first time in quite a while. Very much looking forward to seeing them perform!

Songs like this really make me want to learn my guitar and regret not picking it up yet. But, everything in it’s own time, right? When things slow down this winter maybe I can finally start.

Any tips/resources? Just pick a song and learn it? Probably should figure out basic chords first? I’m sure there’s 100 different ways to do it. Looking back, I wish I would have taken it in college!

Never too late though people. What hobby have you always wanted to pick up?

Be good, do good.

#247 of 366: Summertime The Gershwin Version, Lana Del Rey

Lana has an all-time voice IMO. Pretty cool that she grew up in Lake Placid.

This song kind of feels like a melancholy ode to the summer that has passed us, but with the first day of school hitting tomorrow, my sadness will turn to elation as I see the kids gain. So much love to get, and give. Love my students.

How was your summer? I’ll admit mine went altogether too fast, and I didn’t do a lot of the things I wanted to for a few reasons. But all we can do is move forward. Here’s to a long Autumn?

Be good, do good!
